It's almost the end of March! Not that exciting in itself, but in early April I'm heading off to New Zealand for three weeks and I can't wait. I was supposed to go to NZ last October, but I had to cancel with a week to go because I needed surgery. Not. fun. times.
But this holiday is going to be even better than the trip I planned in October. I'm so excited.
Now, down to business. This month I spent $4.99 on a cross stitch ezine. A new publication, called New Age Cross Stitch.
I don't really like the charts on the front (I was kinda hoping they'd be more inside, but alas...) but I really like the idea of this style of magazine and I wanted to support it. :) You can buy it from Colour Cascade Fabrics.
So I spent $5 out of $25 allowed for this month, bringing me to $7 for the year so far.
No new starts, no finishes. But I do have a nice juicy happy dance brewing. :P

Stitch from Stash temptations!
Yesterday I was really tempted to splurge on some patterns. I discovered FireWing Designs and, well... they're stunning!
And then there's Ink Circle's new design Lunation.
I love it! Especially since there's an Australian Earth view (we often miss out... :()
But did I succumb? No! Well, not yet. :P
How is everyone else going with their Stitch from Stash resolutions?

Stitch from Stash February
I finally did, it woohoo!
The Lookout is now at 3/4 finished. :D
In the last month I also had my first finish for the year.
And this month I spent $2 on stash. I found some lovely beads at an op shop that I just couldn't pass up.

I'm doing pretty well with this challenge. Only $2 spent this year. Lots of temptations though. :)

Stitch from Stash January
It's time for the first Stitch from Stash report! I can happily say that I haven't spent a single cent on stash this month. (No thanks to you, favourite ONS that's clearing out Dinky Dyes cottons at half price... why do you tempt me?!)
I showed you my two big WIPs for this month last post, so here's the littlies from my stash I've been stitching on. I haven't made any progress this week on my big WIPs either, thanks to the heatwave. Five days straight over 40C/104F? Bleh! I couldn't bare to sit under my LED stitching lamp in that heat.
Funky Owl kit from Cross Stitcher
I like this kit and made a bit of progress this week, but it was so hot the soluble plastic canvas was weakening in my hands cause I was sweating so much. Yay.
Yellow-faced Angelfish
Now this really is stitching from stash. I bought three in this set in... 2006? I stitched the second one in 2008(?) and the first one before that. When I finish this one I'm going to turn them into a wall hanging.
And finally...
Mystery stitch! This one is a secret. :P
So for Stitch From Stash I've started two projects from stash and stitched on three WIPs. Not bad at all.
How's everyone else coping with the heat/cold?

First challenge
What should arrive in my mailbox today but the Fox Collection catalogue. Temptation! Can my newly forged Stitch from Stash resolve resist this glossy-paged enticement?
Luckily, my little girl Watson whispered an idea in my ear. The catalogue was shreded to gaily coloured strips and playtime commenced. :D

Challenges for 2014
I've joined a few stitching based challenges to help keep me motivated, and hopefully meet some of the lovely bloggers out there. The first is

A great idea started by Mel of Epic Stitching; spend no more than $25 a month on stitching stash, stitch what you already have! As an extra bonus there's prizes every month that you meet your budget. :D
The other is

run by Melissa at Measi's Musings. I don't need too much motivating to finish my WIPs, but I like the idea of the month themes to discuss. Wish me well on my challenges! Is anyone else out there participating in these?
